21 Sep Smoky Chilled Tomato Soup

It's ridiculously mind-numbingly hot here in Los Angeles and so I give you a ridiculously mind-numbingly easy recipe that requires no heat and no more than 5 minutes of your time! Tomato season is coming to a close (*sob*) and I'm using them in everything I can while they're still here and still incredible. This soup is a kind-of-gazpacho/tortilla soup/salmorejo type deal, and it's success hinges on the quality of your tomatoes so be sure to get the most fragrant and juicy ones you can find (the cheaper "softies" at the farmers market are perfect for this since their imperfections and almost-over-ripeness will be obliterated by the blender anyway). Use a high-quality Spanish smoked paprika as well for optimal flavor explosion, the bargain bin spice will get lost in translation.  [yumprint-recipe id='86']...

02 Mar Purple Kale Salad with Creamy Cashew Avocado Dressing

I can never get enough kale salad, so I'm always inventing new ways to mix up the same old bowl. This recipe was inspired by my new favorite Venice Beach neighborhood watering hole, Clutch, where their Cali-Mex kale and cauliflower salad transported my tastebuds to a very happy place last week. Now when I don't want to walk the three blocks to get it, I can make my own twist at home (but I would still walk a hundred miles for those Mexi nacho fries with avocado crema!). You can make this one vegan by omitting the cojita, but you'll need to up the salt to make up for the loss.[yumprint-recipe id='67']...

05 Jan Lemony Kale Salad with Asiago + Panko

My go-to kale salad obsession, this quick recipe is a winner every single time. Be sure to choose bunches of Black/Lacinato/Elephant/Tuscan/Dino (seriously I've never seen a single vegetable with so many different names) with smaller dark and very bumpy leaves (they will be way more tender and flavorful than the XL leaves) and chiffonade them as finely as your knife will let you (for a tutorial- check out my quick video here ). With a bright and bold lemon vinaigrette, tender paper thin black kale, shredded high-quality aged asiago, and buttery toasted panko breadcrumbs, this salad will make any kale hater say KALE YEAH.[yumprint-recipe id='61']...

27 Oct Inside Out Raw Vegan Caramel Apples

Halloween is in the air and we all know how quickly the candy induced sugar overload can take over. Why not make some healthy treats this year with my raw and vegan caramel apples. Quick, easy, and no need to bake (though you can, and they are damn delicious that way), they will make both kids and adults smile a big fat one. Stay spooky my friends! [yumprint-recipe id='57']...

06 Oct Veggie Ceviche Stuffed Avocado (Vegan)

Hearts of Palm replace the standard fishy ceviche base in this tangy, spicy, and flavor packed recipe developed for Vegenaise. The key to getting this right is workin your knife skills and making every vegetable component the same size- I like mine super finely diced, but for a more rustic preparation you can pump up the size and go chunky. Serve in pretty glasses or in an emptied out avocado as shown and with plenty of your favorite tortilla chips on the side!Head on over to mayokarma.followyourheart.com for more vegan comfort food recipes!...

29 Sep Follow Your Heart Vegenaise #MayoKarma Recipes

Get ready for the year of Mayo Karma.I am incredibly excited to share the work I did this summer with Follow Your Heart, developing mouthwatering veg centered recipes for their new Mayo Karma campaign. One of my favorite brands on the block, they make the best tasting, most versatile, and good for you Vegan Mayonnaise around (not to mention some of the best dressings, spreads, and cheeses you'll ever put in your mouth). And not only are they local to Los Angeles (local=great for our community, local economy, and our bodies) but their plant is completely powered by solar energy and they are committed to demonstrating leadership in the ethical, social, and environmental responsibilities of operating a business. I'm proud to have created eight delicious and healthy recipes using Vegenaise, all of which add up to a complete 32 Ounce jar of the magical stuff, and will give you 51 servings...
