From Grandma’s Kitchen Corner

Good food is part of a healthy lifestyle. No matter how strictly you follow your workout routine, you will never go anywhere without good meals as a part of the regimen. This is one of the lessons grandma taught me. She said greens were to the body what good quality oil was to an engine. She also said that eating a healthy meal was as important as all other things we did to avoid illnesses. I was curious what constituted a healthy meal and she showed gave me a lesson on food classes.
At age 13, I had my own kitchen corner in my mom’s kitchen. It was nothing more than a cabinet full of spices and a refrigerator compartment with greens and more spices. Cooking was my way of exercising my creativity. It was my happy place. Although I ran to grandma whenever I was stuck, I had been more creative with my cooking and my family loved it.
